Sequoia

Yosemite

 

Sequoia trees are not the tallest trees on Earth, but they are the largest in volume.  This slice of a sequoia shows that it was a few thousand years old when it fell.  The diagram below it shows how big the tree was during certain milestones in human history.

 

The General Sherman Tree is the largest living thing on Earth.
